Have you ever had surgery? What for?

I had a surgery in 2020 to remove a seven-inch tumor from my colon. How it was found is probably the funniest medical story I have. After finally fixing a few conditions that I thought were causing my chronic, life long anemia, my doctor suggested that I get a colonoscopy. I got mine done in August of 2020, and the rest is sort of history. I remember watching the screen as he scoped my colon, and I remember making comments the entire time. When he got to the large growth in there I started laughing. I was like, well shit, that doesn’t look like that should be there. The next thing I knew I was waking up in the recovery room. My doctor came in, and sat down why rubbing his face. He was STRESSED. I was happy, I was so stressed out at work, super depressed, and not sure how to take the news. My boss at the time was texting me, and as she was asking for an update, I asked my doctor how much time I could take off of work. More than anything at that moment, I realized that I needed a break from the job I hated, and now I had an excuse to phone it in. The surgery was scheduled a month later, and it was pre-cancerous, but they were able to get it all. Subsequent scopes have continued to be clear, but one lesson I learned was that I do not live to work.

I had one. In 2022 the doctors had to remove my appendix so that it doesn’t leak bacteria because it would be affect my whole belly which can be life threatening. Let’s follow each other’s blog.
