So, I am a part of the ever-growing world of people moving away from consuming gluten. Am I happy about that? No, I am quite upset about it. I have had two major surgeries that impact my digestive health, and after reading a few blogs and talking to my PCP, I was advised to reduce gluten or remove gluten from my diet.

A study found here shares that a person who had experienced severe IBS and a cholecystectomy had a reoccurrence of symptoms after consuming gluten and lactose. I’m already lactose intolerant, but I was hoping I could continue to live with bread in my life.

So how did I do it?

Well, it is fucking hard. I decided to try to combine this removal with other healthy changes that I have decided to make. I finally found affordable gluten-free alternatives to pasta and snacks. I started to eat whole foods like fruits, veggies, and lean meats. I am going to be a meat eater until the day I die. All that said, I still eat Oreos. I can’t go gluten-free full stop, and I don’t think that is within my ability as a person tbh.

If you have gone 100% gluten-free, what changes to your body have you experienced? I feel significantly less bloated, and overall, I feel lighter.
