I was talking to a friend today about N Minneapolis, and she introduced me to a few local grocers in the area. I still think there is a space for affordable options. However, if we can elevate these small businesses, they may help fill the gap.
The first grocery store she shared with me is So Low Grocery Outlet. Slow Low is a discount chain carrying brand-name groceries, plus items like gifts & toys. The hours are limited, only opening from 8 am to 7 pm most days. On Sunday, they close at 6 pm. Their address is 3111 Emerson Ave N, Minneapolis, MN 55411
The second grocery store shared is Jimmy’s Market. This is a small grocery store that is a bit more central in North Minneapolis, it is the store that I went to when I first moved to the city back in the early 2000s. Though, I believe the name was different at that time. They are located near North High School at 1121 N 12th Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55411
For local pharmacies, the search is a bit more complicated. There are a lot of little pharmacies. However, I can’t tell what their hours are. After Walgreens closes, there will not be many to visit. I suggest the Cub Pharmacy. They are located at 701 W Broadway Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55411
