Verity was such a rollercoaster! Definitely my favorite read of 2022 so far. I, 5000% think you should check it out. You can get it here from Target.

Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, the husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.
In each part of this book, I was trying to guess the mystery behind Verity, whether her husband was suspicious, whether the tragedy in their lives was the result of bad luck or if this was a crime novel. Honestly, I can’t decide if I hate the ending or love it. I won’t spoil it here, but I will say that I had at least 5 different theories and I was wrong about each one of them.
If you are a fan of the work of Ruth Ware, and Dean Koontz, and want to think about the ending of this book for weeks, read this book. Colleen does a fantastic job keeping you on your toes from the beginning of the book with an incredibly violent death that is almost seen as a normal part of the day in NYC. It was so jarring, however as I think about the way that Colleen tells this story, Verity reflects on the way other people perceive tragedy when it is completely devastating for you. After getting to know Lowan, and watching her fight against her conscience, I love how Colleen showed the slow loss of respect that she had for Verity and then her growing feelings for Jeremy. Ultimately, I am not sure that I would have made a different choice than Lowan made at the end of the book. I can’t imagine facing the circumstances that she did, when everything is on the line, what choice would you have made?
